Overview
Like so many buildings on the University of Notre Dame campus, Washington Hall, built in 1881, and LaFortune Student Center, built in1883, have great historical significance. With both buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the renovation of the buildings called for windows that would be energy efficient and low maintenance, and that would also preserve the profiles and unique colors of the originals.
Marvin Signature Services was selected because of our custom capabilities, attention to detail and experience replicating wood profiles using extruded aluminum cladding.
Signature Products and Services
- This totally custom project involved 310 units. Each unit utilized a unique 1 1/2" (3.75cm) Simulated Divided Lite (SDL) bar. Signature employees worked diligently to guide these windows throughout the entire process.
- Marvin created a brand new product using a combination of Single Hungs, Double Hungs and Magnum Double Hungs, with extruded aluminum clad exteriors finished in custom colors. The team also created a monumental circular window assembly on Washington Hall.
- Custom clad window casings based upon the architect's drawings were created and factory-applied to save on jobsite time and labor.
- Two custom colors, Irish Tan and Irish Bronze, were created for the project.
