Overview

Two greenhouse pavilions were designed as new construction to complement and connect with a larger conservatory, the Palm House, originally built in Baltimore’s Druid Hill Park in 1888. Specifications for the new greenhouses were written from the Palm House renovation window specs in order to echo the dimensioning, design and rhythm of the older, main conservatory structure.

Project Highlights

  • Marvin Signature Products and Services provided a comprehensive system that functioned effectively, met performance criteria, and resolved design issues.

  • Units were produced with custom color clad, custom casing and subsill to match existing casing on the original building, and clad milled plates for windows to replicate the round tops on the original building.

  • The Marvin Signature team figured out flashing details and engineered structural and anchoring specifications, working within a design that held some challenging dimensionality.
